Culpeper Renaissance Inc. Downtown Keystone Business Program
Village Frameworks & Gallery celebrating 20+ years!

Skip a seasoned picture framer from South Carolina moved to his wife’s hometown of Culpeper to start Village Frameworks & Gallery in September of 1990. Almost immediately the Kuwait war started, affecting the economy, and causing them to wonder if their timing was all wrong. But Culpeper residents didn’t disappoint, and they made their way through those first few years, when most new businesses fall by the wayside.

In September of 1999, VFG moved to their present location at 206 S Main Street. Best decision they’ve made! "The visibility and walk-by exposure have been a blessing, and critical for our business."

Culpeper and the surrounding area have a strong artist community. Allowing them to host art shows featuring individual local artists. The very first was Gary Close which continues today with his artistic creations. Other individual shows included local artists Mary Allen and Lou Messa. VFG has also been a supporter of the Artists of Windmore Foundation for the Arts for 18 years.

During the recent pandemic VFG loyal customers helped to make sure their doors were still open when it was all over. Their most frequent frame job during that time was a cross-stitch or needlework piece, as the “stitchers” had extra time at home to produce their handiwork.

"VFG is grateful to all those who have supported us over the years, trusting them with their special framing projects. Happily, we call many of you true friends. Friends we wouldn’t have met otherwise. What blessings!" said Skip & Lou Price.
